General Forum Rules First Draft Respect the Staff It is important to respect the Staff on this site, now don't concern yourself the Staff is held to a certain standard and if a Staff member is truly abusing their position or being a bully in someway they'll be dealt with. The Staff will be in charge of a lot of features on the site, they'll be the ones helping to create characters, update sheets, manage advancement, posting replies to actions and explaining dice rolls multiple times I imagine. The Goal is eventually over time as the site evolves and the code on themes and the like get updated more and more things will be managed automatically except of course the actual in-game responses to some extent and the continuation of plot/adventure lines that sort of thing. The Recording of said adventures and creation of the archive of 'episodes and seasons' etc. should be something handled by staff and community always I think. In the end just how much of everything the Staff does may vary, but in the end the experience that's had here is solely achieved from their blood, sweat, and tears so appreciate just how much work that takes, it deserves respect at the very least. Adult Policy As Proboards the hosts of our beloved forum have a no adult content allowed policy we must follow suit. First and foremost this means no hanky panky out in text. (No text erotica, pornographic photos etc.) Nothing that would go beyond a PG-13 Rating that sort of thing, now as this is sort of a free literary rp with a media setting like a 'TV' Show I imagine people will couple, the go-to method for suggesting that something happened, but not getting directly into it is the fade-to-black method and for now is the approved method of suggesting a character coupling. Now babies may be had that sort of thing happens on TV and the fade-to-black may or may not happen. (Charmed had a fall through the bottom of the screen method... not showing a thing.) That later leads to 'OMG I gotta baby' moment, these are acceptable methods of still having realistic things happening and character development events without doing anything adult or posting something that's 'NSFW'/NC-17'. Adult content can also extend to extensive gore or macabre material, we would not allow 'Gore' photos or extensive description of grotesque stuff, still people do die our suggestion is to try to tone down on gore and goo. Mature Rating We don't allow adult content, but sometimes some of the things on this forum might strike someone as 'Mature'. For example a character might be LGBT as we don't judge that sort of thing, there might be moments of violence as there is a combat system and we encourage describing combat actions. For the sake of keeping things legit we're putting it out there that some content may be 'Mature' and those who are under-aged or sensitive are encouraged to be aware of this fact. To not act immaturely when confronted with things like this and act responsibly when participating on the forum. Act Responsibly Just a bit on acting responsibly, it should go without saying that you should respect each other and not be trolls or flamers. To act responsibly is to also not try to corrupt the sanctity of the forum by plaguing it with viruses or malware not to take advantage of the trust of the forum to try to scam people or run cons on other members. Basically to act responsibly is to understand that this forum is a place for a potentially budding community and game that could be really interesting and fun for a lot of people, don't screw it up for not just the staff of the site, but all the other members as well. If this place comes tumbling down it ruins it for everyone, just remember that. The difference between OOC and IC You'll notice that the Forum has a category for 'In-character' Boards, and then the 'General OOC'. The Big Rule with these boards is that when you're posting in the 'in character' boards you are posting in character. You shouldn't post anything 'OOC' or 'Out of Character' in the IC Boards. (If you absolutely must post something OOC for example as a question to the staff then do so in (ooc:) like that. Although I should note we do have a whisper feature I believe works and you should really use that to whisper a staff member instead.) To some extent new members will be given leniency if they make a few understandable mistakes, but if it continues too long especially after a few warnings or it's incredibly blatant then there will likely be consequences. Respect the Rules of the Game This forum is dedicated to an RP that uses dice rules and takes advantage of a monetary system for the sake of character advancement. Please respect the game this in turn also relates to respecting the staff, when dice are required they should be rolled and you should stand by the result whether it's good or bad, no attempts at cheating, god-modding, or power gaming. This is supposed to be fun for everyone and the dice add a realistic edge, don't ruin it for others because you can't handle the limitations and risks that come with a RP using a dice system to add an element of realism and chance. You can't control the actions of others and sometimes your characters will fail to succeed at what they wish to do, this is a fact of life.
